Giving Tuesday begins the season of giving, when many of us make our end of the year charitable donations. As always, there are many worthy causes that deserve our donations. But this year, there is a cause that you may not have considered in the past which is desperately in need of your attention and your support: the health of our Country and our Democracy.
It is no secret that our country is ailing at the moment. Regardless of our political beliefs or affiliations, we can all recognize that there is a decline in the health of our civil discourse, and many Americans are suffering from the rancor and divisiveness that has afflicted both our political and social interactions.
When a friend or loved one is ill and in need of life-saving support, community members will rally together to raise the requisite funds to assure s/he receives the attention and care s/he needs. But how can one contribute to the care of our country as a whole?
Fortunately, there are a variety of wonderful organizations that are working tirelessly to heal the wounds and mend the tears that are threatening the fabric of our democracy. For all of those who love our country, who have benefitted from its freedoms and opportunities and who value the ideals of equality and liberty on which America stands, it would be worthwhile at this giving season to consider supporting one of these organizations that are providing the tools to bring us back together and to restore our national health and integrity:
